How do I submit Stat days?

Stat days (or statutory days) are public holidays observed in Canada. There are 13 in total and are summarized in the PHSA Payroll calendar (see previous section).

Depending on where the stat day falls on your schedule, you may be entitled to an extra paid day off (which is called a lieu day) and you may be entitled for extra pay. The exact details are negotiated by RDBC (our union) and can be found in our Collective Agreement: Article 11.

How to get your lieu day and/or extra pay will also depend on where the stat day falls on your schedule.

Admittedly, this is a little confusing and difficult to interpret so we’ve attempted to simplify it for you:

Where does the stat day fall on your schedule? You will get…How do I redeem my lieu day and/or extra pay?
It's during my vacation
  • A lieu day
Email your site coordinator / program administrator
I'm scheduled to work on the stat day

OR

It's during my post-call day (i.e. I finish my call shift on the stat day)
  • A lieu day
  • Paid double (x2) for that day
Login to RMS, select the tab "Stat Holiday Worked," and submit the form. Follow the step-by-step guide UBC Statutory Holiday Worked Request (pdf, online).

The extra pay will be automatically reflected on your regular paycheque.

Note: UBC will automatically email you reminders to submit your Stat holidays on RMS to make sure you redeem your extra pay before the pay period is over.
