How do I find a family doctor?

As many of you already know, BC is undergoing a family physician shortage. However, as residents, we do get priority access to attaining a family physician.

Here are some options:

  1. Physician Health Program (PHP)

    • PHP helps physicians attain a family doctor.

    • Register with PHP here

    • Of note, they also provide a peer support group and a 24/7 helpline.

  2. Divisions of Family Practice (Family Medicine Residents only)

    • It’s a good idea to reach out to your local Divisions, especially if you plan to practice in your area after graduating.

    • Contact them, introduce yourself, and ask if they can help you find a family physician for you.

    • You can find the Divisions of Family Practice contact information on their website.
